Profhilo is a bio-remodelling injectable made from pure stabilised hyaluronic acid. Unlike conventional skin boosters or dermal fillers, it does not physically fill lines or add volume to specific areas. Instead, it disperses throughout the skin at five bio-aesthetic injection points (known as BAP points), where it spreads slowly and stimulates four key types of collagen and elastin.
The result is a gradual but visible improvement in skin laxity, hydration, and overall skin quality. Patients usually notice firmer, plumper, and more radiant skin in the weeks after treatment. They still look natural, like they have not had work done.
Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid of any injectable skin treatment currently available – 64mg in a single 2ml syringe. This high concentration is what makes it particularly effective at stimulating natural collagen and elastin production, rather than simply hydrating the surface of the skin.
How Does Profhilo® Work?
Profhilo is injected at five exact sites on each side of the face. That is ten injection points for the full face treatment. The hyaluronic acid then disperses through the deeper layers of the skin, integrating with the tissue rather than sitting in one place.
Once in the skin, it works in two ways.
- First, it provides immediate, deep hydration – something no topical skincare products can replicate.
- Second, it stimulates fibroblasts to make new collagen and elastin – This gradually reshapes the skin over four to six weeks.
The recommended Profhilo treatment protocol consists of two sessions spaced four weeks apart. This approach lets the second treatment build on the response from the first. It boosts remodelling and helps results last longer.
Is Profhilo Painful?
Most patients find Profhilo mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. The injections are quick and use a fine needle. Any discomfort passes within seconds, and the entire treatment takes around 30 minutes from start to finish.
If you are anxious about this treatment, a numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area before we begin. Siobhán will discuss this with you at your consultation and during treatment. Your comfort is a priority throughout.
Small bumps may appear at the injection sites immediately after treatment. These are completely normal and are simply the hyaluronic acid settling into the tissue. They typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours.
What are the benefits of Profhilo®?
Profhilo targets the underlying causes of skin laxity and dullness, not just the surface. On the face, patients typically see improvement in:
- Skin firmness – sagging or lax areas, particularly around the jaw, cheeks, and neck
- Skin texture and tone – a smoother, more even appearance
- Fine lines and wrinkles – particularly around the eyes, forehead, and mouth
- Hydration – skin that feels replenished rather than simply moisturised
- Radiance – a natural glow that reflects improved skin quality from within
Unlike dermal filler treatment, Profhilo alone does not change the shape of your face. It works with your existing features, improving the quality of the skin that covers them. Many patients describe the effect as looking like a more rested, more vibrant version of themselves.
How Long Does Profhilo Last?
Results from a full course of Profhilo, two treatments spaced four weeks apart, typically last between six and twelve months. The exact duration varies depending on your skin type, age, lifestyle, and how quickly your body metabolises hyaluronic acid.
Most patients choose to return for a maintenance treatment every six to nine months to sustain their results. Over time, combining Profhilo maintenance sessions with a good skincare routine can produce a cumulative improvement in skin quality that goes beyond what either approach achieves alone.
You will not see the full results immediately after your first session. The collagen and elastin response builds progressively and most patients notice a visible improvement four to six weeks after their second treatment.
